Finally I got to watch "The Lion King (ライオン・キング)" on Broadway. It was just great. Gorgeous scenery， great dancing. That IS a Broadway show.

I don’t say it is not commercial. In the theater u would find many people tring to sell the merchandise. The theater was almost a theme park or something.

I still think， however， it is a significant piece in the history of Broadway， including the fact it is directed by a female director. I don know if it is coming from women things， but it was totally different from any other shows I ever saw on Broadway.

What I was thinking was the necessity of the words. It was just so beautiful stage with incrediblly great dancing and costumes and music. I think we would enjoy as much without the songs or lines. Like the stages of ballet. Cheap jokes even make it actually cheap.

Disney IS commercial， but it is not the Lion King’s fault.
