7月27日 フルメタルジャケット

Sunny.
I watched the DVD “Full Metal Jacket (フルメタル・ジャケット)” directed by Stanley Kubrick (スタンリー・キューブリック). I’d only seen “The Shining” of Kubrick’s works, and it was long ago, so this was almost my Kubrick virgin.
There were many phrases I had heard in my daily life in this movie, like the way of answering “Sir! Yes, Sir!” or those military cadences. I didn’t know they were from this movie. Maybe actually they are real things in the Marine training, but anyway what made them famous is this movie.
I love the actors. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman was so nice. I read he was not supposed to act in the movie at first. He was supposed to be the technical adviser of drill sergeant, but he was too good to be only an adviser, so Kubrick decided to use him as the actor for the role. He used to be the real drill sergeant, so it is not difficult to imagine that he was much more powerful than the actors. What I care, however, is the actor who was originally cast as the role. I mean, he was so poor. I would cry for that.
The way of using the music was so cool. Including it, I think basically this movie is in the comic mood, which makes it much more realistic in some way, though.
I kinda wanna be trained like that...
