4月16日? テイクミーアウト!!プリーズ。

Sunny.
After the audition, I went to Brooklyn to watch an off-off Broadway show “Take Me Out (テイク・ミー・アウト)” in which my Japanese classmate in HB studio was acting. I had expectation about it because I had known it was a great play that won three Tony Awards in 2003, but it was even better that I expected! Not only the book, but also the direction, set, and actors were terrific. The 15-dollar fee was too cheap; now I am so happy to be in NY, and I regret to have missed this kind of cheap-and-great shows until today.
“Take Me Out”, the play about a fictional MLB team, is well known about its male nudity; in the play most of the characters -there is no female character in this play- get completely naked. And my Japanese friend whose role is a Japanese pitcher modeled on Nomo was not the exception. I saw so many things, therefore, so I don wanna see them for a while, or forever.
That Japanese teammate was a very interesting role, and he did really good job, I guess. His presence was so great. I envy him to play the role on stage, for I have hangar for being on stage in these days. The lines in Japanese of the character were, however, a little unnatural as they must have been translated from English line. Anyway I wanna play the role as well, but I think I am too small to act the major leaguer, so I need workout for someday.
I loved the other actors, too, and to my surprise, the actor who was the storyteller is Tony nominated actor (not in origynal "Take Me Out"), and he used to act with Natalie Portman (ナタリー・ポートマン) in “The Diary of Anne Frank (アンネの日記)”. Of couse he can be that great actor and actually he was, but what surprised me was the fact he is acting in off-off Broadway charging 15 bucks. I heard the actors are enven not paid at all. This is New York. And my classmate is in such the great play like this; I know he took the audition and was chosen from many actors include Japanese Americans who can speak Japanese and English perfectly. This is, New York.
I have to follow it.
